This can be a deterrent when purchasing coffee, however, here is my plea to help you consider choosing the organic coffee when you have the opportunity financially.

This can be a deterrent when purchasing coffee, however, here is my plea to help you consider choosing the organic coffee when you have the opportunity financially.

Bad News About Non-Organic Coffee:

According to CS Monitor, conventional coffee farmers apply up to 250 pounds of chemical fertilizers per acre. What we then find is that there can be up to 1,000 chemical compounds present in each cup of coffee. This is a huge problem due to all the health risks that are strongly related to pesticide use in farming. While these chemicals allow farmers to produce up to twice as much coffee, the hoops they jump through to do so are not very glamorous for the consumer.

This is also a serious problem for the actual coffee farmers. During the process, they are exposed to all of the toxic levels of harmful chemicals and it becomes very hazardous to them. Companies that only use organic coffee in turn are choosing to not support these hazardous conditions.

Without the added chemicals from farmers, organic coffee not only doesn’t have the negative health related risks, but actually has higher antioxidants and chlorogenic acid, which are helpful in preventing type 2 diabetes and lowering blood pressure.

How Does This Affect Decaf Coffee?

In order to remove the caffeine from the coffee, chemicals generally have to be applied in the extraction process. What then happens is that the decaf coffee tends to have even more caffeine in it than simply regular coffee.
